The coral rock of the Golden Grove Terrace has been scientifically dated to c. 220,000 years ago and evidence of Amerindians has been found by Three Houses stream, which borders Golden Grove.

Golden Grove has historic links to the slave rebellion of 1816, the leaders of this revolt fleeing to Golden Grove from their base at neighbouring Bayleys plantation.
