Golden Grove House and Garden

The coral rock of the Golden Grove Terrace has been scientifically dated to c. 220,000 years ago and evidence of Amerindians has been found by Three Houses stream, which borders Golden Grove.

Our full history (see below) details the early colonial settlement at Three Houses and the creation of Golden Grove as a separate plantation in the 17th century.

Golden Grove has historic links to the slave rebellion of 1816, the leaders of this revolt fleeing to Golden Grove from their base at neighbouring Bayleys plantation. Under a century later one of the leading politicians and philanthropists of her day, Florence Daysh, was born at Golden Grove in 1908. Read a fuller story of her life and family background below.
